View Funeral WebcastArthur Milton Markham, III, 67, resident of Williamsport, Tennessee and retired from General Electric Corporation, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Fort Sander's Hospital in Sevierville while on vacation. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2p.m. at First Baptist Church, 2790 Pulaski Hwy. Columbia, TN. Burial will be in Williamsport Methodist Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. A native of Pike County, Missouri he was the son of Betty Faires Markham of Creve Coeur, Missouri and the late Arthur M. Markham, Jr. He was a 1960 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended UT Knoxville and Middle Tennessee State University. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a longtime member of the choir and a former deacon. Following his retirement from General Electric he worked for Pigg & Parsons Men's Clothiers until its closing. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, the former Jo Frances Porter, whom he married January 26, 1963; two daughters, Martha Jane Markham (Tommy) Clark of Jonesborough, Jo Anna Markham (Greg) Neece of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Brittany Clark, Wesley Clark, Julia Ann Clark all of Jonesborough, Jody Neece of Williamsport; brother, John (Jackie) Markham of Columbia; sister, Linda (David, Sr.) Baumstark of Chesterfield, Missouri; brother-in-law, O. Henry (Linda Joy) Porter of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tommy Bassham, Doyal Buchanan, Johnny Markham, Kevin Markham, David Baumstark, Jr., Kimble Maynord, O. Henry Porter, Greg Neece, Tommy Clark and Wesley Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Kimble Maynord's Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church; the Williamsport Men's Breakfast Group; and members of Columbia Central High School Class of 1960.
