View Funeral Webcast Miss Ada Frances Perry, 93, resident of Benton Hall and former long-time resident of the Bigbyville Community, died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Bigbyville United Methodist Church with Rev. Tony Brown and Rev. C. S. "Steve" Thomas, III officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 12:00 noon to service time at the church. Born and reared in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Russell Simpson Perry and Carrie Nomie Howard Perry. She was a 1936 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Martin College in Pulaski. Founded by her family, she was a life-long, faithful member of Bigbyville United Methodist Church and active in the affairs of United Methodist Women. Miss Perry was retired from Thompson & Green Machinery Company in Nashville where she served as bookkeeper for over 40 years. Survivors include cousins, Mary Porter Thomas Seale of Columbia, Lillian Porter Sheegog Savage of Franklin, Charlenne Bunyea of Kernersville, North Carolina, Suzanne Swacha of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Rev. C. S. "Steve" Thomas, III of Lewisburg and Houston Thomas of Memphis, William Thomas and David Thomas of Columbia, and Eugene V. Gabryel of Atlanta, Georgia. For many years, she has been attended by her special friend, Mary Smith, whose mother, Carrie Smith, was caregiver to the children of Dr. Perry after the untimely death of their mother in 1923. In recent years, her dear and devoted friends, Carolyn and Buddy Harris, have also provided Miss Perry loving care and attention most gratefully appreciated. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Austin Perry and brother, Russell Simpson Perry, Jr. Active pallbearers include William Thomas, David Thomas, Buddy Harris, Glenn Neathery, Don Howell, Kenny Hanvy, John Bunyea, and Michael Swacha. Members of Bigbyville United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
