Adrienne Leigh Sanders Law, 57, of Columbia, Tenn. died on March 21, 2024. She was the wife of John Law and the mother of Richard Law and Vince Law. She was the mother-in-law of Toria (Richard) Law and the grandmother of her precious Marigold.
Born and raised in a loving home on a family farm in Obion County, Tenn., Adrienne was taught her lifelong characteristics of commitment and loyalty to family and friends, compassion for others, and a faithfulness to God.
Upon graduating from Obion County Central High School, she attended Freed-Hardeman University and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. After declining an acceptance to optometry school, she married John, enrolled at the University of Tennessee at Martin, and obtained a teacher certification in high school math and science. As an educator, Adrienne had a positive and lasting impact on hundreds of students at Jackson Christian School, Houston County High School, and Columbia Academy. In the classroom, she modeled and expected excellence and loved her students.
However, Adrienne often professed that her greatest accomplishment in life was the raising of her sons, Richard and Vince. After their arrival, she suspended her teaching career and immersed herself into their development as a full-time mom and supporter of John’s career. When the boys reached elementary school, Adrienne returned to the classroom for several years, retiring from teaching in 2016.
In her “retirement,” Adrienne served on the board of directors of Columbia Academy and as a board member and chair of the Maury Regional Healthcare Foundation. In these roles, she was an effective leader and communicator, always promoting and supporting good people doing good work in her community.
Adrienne was an accomplished pianist, an avid flower and rose gardener, and enjoyed birdwatching.
Most of all, Adrienne was a follower of Jesus and dearly loved her church family at the West Seventh Street Church of Christ.
Adrienne is survived by her husband John, her sons Richard (Toria) and Vince, her granddaughter Marigold, her parents Lowell and Glenda Sanders of Obion, Tenn., her sister Sidney (Ty) Parker of Union City, Tenn., her nieces Kallan, Katy-Chandler, and Karoline, her brother Lynn Sanders of Atlanta, Ga., and her mother-in-law Jane Law of Columbia, Tenn.
Anyone who knew and loved Adrienne is invited to a visitation on Sunday, March 24 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the West Seventh Street Church of Christ. An additional visitation hour will be held Monday, March 25 at 11 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at noon, also at the West Seventh Street Church of Christ.
