Agnes McCaleb Brooks

Mrs. Looney Agnes McCaleb Brooks, retired from General Electric and resident of West 11th Street, died on her 89th birthday, Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Union Cemetery. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late Clifford McCaleb and Sallie Evaline Twomey McCaleb. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. She was married March 12, 1943 to Wallace Brooks who preceded her in death November 19, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Holder. Survivors include a daughter, Myrna Brooks of Columbia; two sons, Ray (Karen) Brooks and Clifford (Brenda Wiley) Brooks, both of Columbia; two sisters, Tempie Smith of Mt. Carmel and Dorothy King of Columbia; six grandchildren, John Holder, Jr., Spence Brooks, Joseph Brooks, Robert Brooks, Vickie Harmon, and Auna Beard; six great-grandchildren, Somer Harmon, Ashley Holder, Allison Holder, Mandy Beard, John Beard, and Dustin Harmon. Pallbearers are John "Danny" Holder, John "Bubba" Holder, Jr., Spence Brooks, Joseph Brooks, Robert Brooks, Ryan Wiley, Mike Kilgore, and Bobby Kilgore.
