Mrs. Alatha Hickman McCollum, 80, retired employee of Tennessee Farm Bureau and resident of North High Street, died Monday, September 27, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Ted Burleson officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. She was the widow of John Baxter "J.B." McCollum who preceded her in death on November 5, 1983. She was a 1941 graduate of Culleoka High School and attended Draughon's Business College in Nashville. Mrs. McCollum was employed at Tennessee Farm Bureau as secretary to the Assistant to the President and the President of Tennessee Farm Bureau, as well as secretary to the Tennessee Farm Bureau Board of Directors. After working nearly forty-two years, she retired from the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation on December 31, 1987. After retiring from Farm Bureau, she worked fourteen years as an active volunteer for the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary and was a "Superstar" of the Auxiliary at the time of her death. She was a member of West Seventh Street Church of Christ. Survivors include one sister, Evelyn Hickman Morrow of Culleoka; one brother, Whitthorne (Dimple) Hickman of Culleoka; two nephews, Tim (Cindy) Hickman and Danny Hickman, both of Culleoka; one niece, Eyvonne Hickman (Mike) Morris of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a brother, James O. Hickman. Pallbearers will be Danny Hickman, Tim Hickman, Johnny White, Jackie White, Don Westmoreland, Steve Westmoreland, and Joey Westmoreland. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Craig, Jerry Vaughn, Hueston Marshall, Jimmy Pilkinton, Hardison Thrasher, David Wise, Donald Sanford, J. P. Brown, Ray Morrow, Boone Morrow, elders and deacons of West Seventh Street Church of Christ, Dr. Stephen Simmons, Dr. Cary Pulliam, and Dr. Amit Choksi.
