Albert Clinton “A.C.” Jennings, Jr., 86, retired supervisor for Union Carbide Corporation, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Milton Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 11:30 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Born August 24, 1933 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Albert Clinton Jennings, Sr. and the late Luna Bell Justice Jennings. He served in the Tennessee National Guard for 18 years. Mr. Jennings was a member of Lynnville Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Shirley McMeen Jennings of Columbia; daughter, Glenda (Jerry) Olive of Columbia; step daughter, Tina Bates (Danny Keen) of Shady Grove; grandchildren, Navy Petty Officer First Class Kristin Olive of Kailua, Hawaii; Dustin Olive of Columbia; great grandchildren, Ryan Olive, Chelsea Olive, Kylie Olive, Alicia Olive, Layla Olive; step grandchildren, Dylan Martin, Hunter Ola, Cassidy Mabe, Ashlynn Mabe; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Wynell Ritchie and Betty Brown; and step daughter, Cindy Bates. Active pallbearers will be Pete Ridley, Brian Ridley, Danny Keen, Jeff Hargrove, Jerry Olive, Mickey Fitzgerald, and Johnathan McFarlin. Honorary pallbearers include Sammy McMeen, Tommy McMeen, Jerry Jeter, and former employees of Union Carbide.
