View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Albert Myles Scribner, Sr., 87, resident of Indian Camp Springs Road, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Harton Hospital in Tullahoma. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Barry Farris officiating. Burial will follow in Scribner's Mill Cemetery with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites conducted at 7:00 p.m. by Spring Hill Masonic Lodge members. The family will also visit after 12:00 p.m. Friday. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Lewis Addison Scribner and Lula Adams Scribner and a member of the Church of Christ. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and as a Coxswain in the naval Amphibious Forces. He was assigned to several naval stations in the states including Great Lakes, Illinois, Little Creek, Virginia, and Fort Pierce, Florida. He also served in the European-African Theatre of Operation and was aboard ships in North Africa, France, Italy, and areas. He was awarded the American Area, Victory, and European-African service medals with one bronze star. For many years, he and his brothers built houses in Middle Tennessee, including his own homes. In later years, he worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority until retirement. Mr. Scribner was a lifetime member of the Carpenters' Union; and a member of the 40 & 8, Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19, Spring Hill Masonic Lodge, and Sam Watkins Chapter of Sons of Confederate Veterans. In 2002, along with other World War II veterans whose education was interrupted when they enlisted in the military, Mr. Scribner received his diploma from Columbia Central High School. His wife, Lillian Mae Vaughan Scribner, whom he married December 14, 1946, died July 19, 2006. Survivors include daughters, Pamela Scribner Farris of Culleoka and Sherry (Allen) Rogers of Tullahoma; grandchildren, Byran (Rachel) Farris, Justin Farris, Brenton Rogers, Brittany Rogers, Albert (Ashley) Scribner, III, and Rebecca "Becky" (Jason) Parr; great-grandchildren, Chaney Farris, Cole Farris, Blake Farris, Albert Scribner, IV, Alissa Scribner, Amanda Scribner, Braxton Lee Turner, and Allie Scribner. He was preceded in death by a son, Albert Myles Scribner, Jr.; sister, Louella Scribner; and brothers, Amos Scribner, Edward Scribner, James Scribner, Roy Scribner, and Leonard Scribner. Active pallbearers are J. B. Lamar, Allen Rogers, Byran Farris, Brenton Rogers, Albert M. Scribner, III, Justin Farris, and Tony Sowell. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Jim Fitts, Mr. and Mrs. William Pulley, Mr. and Mrs. George Ensley, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Joe Norman, Ann Lamar, Dr. Thomas Farmer and Staff, staff of Life Care of Tullahoma, Carpenters' Union, and Sam Watkins Chapter, and Sons of Confederate Veterans
