Mrs. Alice Doreen Dick, 80, resident of Maury County, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Mike Mabry officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. She was a native of Hazel Park, Michigan and the daughter of the late Wilbur O. Smith and Dora Alice Johnson Ecord. On January 14, 1946 she married Marion Henry Dick who preceded her in death April 11, 2003. Mrs. Dick was retired from the Maury County Board of Education after twenty-six years as a school bus driver. Survivors include her son, Marion "Larry" (Connie) Dick of Centerville; daughter, Eileen (Jeff) Boles of Columbia; sister, Phyllis Hoskinds of Palmdale, California; six grandchildren, Michelle (Tom) Baldwin, Chris Dial, Patrick (Alissa) Andrews, Jonathan (Beth) Boles, Amanda Dick, Kayla Dick; five great-grandchildren, Dominic Andrews, Elijah Boles, Ethan Boles, Andrew Fry, Kaylea Fry; sister-in-law, Birdie Thompson of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and faithful companions, Puggy and Cuddles. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dawn Bray and two brothers, Earl Smith and Bud Smith. Pallbearers will be Tom Baldwin, Patrick Andrews, Leroy Thompson, Donnie Thompson, Richard Thompson and Chris Thompson.
