Miss Alice Olivia Kennedy, 87, retired claims clerk at Life Insurance of Georgia, died Tuesday, July 12, 2007 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at West Seventh Street Church of Christ with Ted Burleson and Mike Kesler officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Kettle Mills native was the daughter of the late George A. Kennedy and Mary Blanche Farris Kennedy. She was a 1938 graduate of Hampshire High School and attended Columbia Business College. She was a longtime resident of Hampshire, moving to Columbia in 1975. Miss Kennedy was a thirty-five year employee of Life Insurance of Georgia where in addition to being a claims clerk she was also assistant office administrator. She was a member of South Point Church of Christ in Hampshire where she taught Sunday School for twenty-five years. She had been a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ since moving to Columbia. Survivors include one sister, Blair (Fred) Greer of Columbia; six nieces, Cecelia (Charlie) Willis of Columbia, Frieda (Dr. Joel) Locke, Sr. of Franklin, Georgia (Richard) Crawford, Sr. of Hendersonville, Elizabeth Greer of Nashville, Margaret Moore and Elizabeth Brandon both of Antioch; one nephew, Paul Kennedy, Jr. of Nashville; three great nephews; and five great nieces. Pallbearers will be Dr. Joel Locke, Sr., Richard Crawford, Sr., Charlie Willis, Clifton Willis, Richard Crawford, Jr., Joel Locke, Jr., Daniel Willis, Randy Turner, and Tyler Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be Elders at West 7th St. Church of Christ, members of Parks and Harris Sunday School Class, George Brazelton, Bill Brown, Clyde Farris, Sam Kennedy, Frances Logsden and Christine Morgan.
