View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Allie Van Brown, 84, retired employee of Columbia Slag and Union Carbide, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at his residence in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Waldrum, Stephen Tyler Brown, and Kenny McFarlen officiating. Burial will follow in Hardison Cemetery on Rock Springs Road. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born July 13, 1936 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Allie Columbus Brown and the late Lois Greenfield Brown. He served in the National Guard for seven years and after retirement he worked 20 years for the Maury County Convenience Center on Bear Creek Pike. Mr. Brown enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, playing cards and marbles, and spending time with his family. He was a member of New Lasea Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, whom he married June 8, 1962, Dorothy “Dot” Brown; children, Ricky (Cynthia) Brown, Brian (Alicia) Brown; grandchildren, David (Emily) Brown, Carly Brown, Stephen Tyler (Taylor Neal) Brown, Justice Brown, Lucas Brown; great grandchild, Brooks Brown; sisters, Linda (Tommy) Stewart, Kathy Chambers; brother, Curtis (Jamie Lynn) Brown; brother-in-law, Charlie (Nancy) Brown; and sister-in-law, Marie Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Ray Brown. Active pallbearers will be Stephen Tyler Brown, David Brown, Austin Johnson, Steven Johnson, Johnathon Waldrum, Tyler Brown, Calvin Chambers, and Steve Brown. Honorary pallbearers include members of New Lasea Church of Christ, and co-workers and friends of Maury County Convenience Center.
