MRS. RUSSELL LAVENDERMrs. Alma Martin "Jolly" Lavender, former long-time resident of West Ninth Street and retired from the Tennessee Knitting Mills, died Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Curtis Dowdy and Brother Jack White officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Mount Cemetery. The family will visit with friends after 4:00 p.m. Monday and after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Highland Church of Christ Building Fund. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.comThe Maury County native was the daughter of the late Charles Ernest Martin and Bell Ervin Martin and a member of the Highland Church of Christ. Mrs. Lavender was an avid Bridge and Canasta player. She was married June 14, 1941 to Russell Lavender. He preceded her in death April 30, 2001. Survivors include a sister, Edna M. Collier of Punta Gorda, Florida; a niece, Wanda Collier (Johnny) Bailey of Punta Gorda, Florida; several great-nieces and nephews; a cousin, Linda Gupton of Lewisburg; a close friend, Sarah Deason of Columbia. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Adams and Estell Martin. Active pallbearers are Billy Martin, Paul Thrasher, Don Westmoreland, Ray Howell, Jack Craig, Gary Redding, Johnny Bailey. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Wood, Charlie Hood, Dr. William Robinson and Elders and Deacons of Highland Church of Christ
