MRS. ALTA DAWSON Mrs. Alta Vick Dawson, 83, former resident of Scribner Avenue, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Carrollton, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Elmer Lusk officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit friends Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Eastside Church of Christ or Hospice of the Highland Rim. She was married for fifty-two years to Sherman "Buck" Brown Dawson who preceded her in death December 19, 1994. She was a retired employee of Edric Manufacturing Company and a member of Eastside Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters, Edith (Terry) Burgess of Pulaski, Alma (Harold) Staggs of Carrollton, Georgia; Peggy (Clyde) Campbell of Woodland, Alabama; one son, Randy (Judy) Dawson of Columbia; one brother, George (Elizabeth) Vick of Mayfield, Kentucky; one sister, Imogene Tatum of Pulaski; twelve grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
