Alva Rankin Lovett

July 6, 1919 — February 4, 2008

Mrs. Mary Alva Rankin Lovett, resident of Lasea Road in Spring Hill, died Monday, February 4, 2008 at Columbia Care & Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bobby Sampson officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Old Lasea Church of Christ Building Fund, c/o Joe Farlow, 4235 Hwy 431, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Shorter Rankin and Katie Akins Rankin. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and embroidering. Mrs. Lovett was a member of Old Lasea Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Leonard Lovett of Spring Hill; son, Robert Dorris (Ruby) Lovett of Zephyrhills, Florida; five daughters, Mary Louise (Larry) Barker of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Lennis Eugenia (Billy) Chesnut, Joyce Warf, Penny Darlene Lovett all of Spring Hill, Wanda Lois (Charles) Harris of Lewisburg; two brothers, Charles (Shirley) Rankin, Fulton (Betty) Rankin both of Columbia; sister-in-law Pauline Rankin of Columbia; daughter-in-law Bettisu Lovett of Thompson Station; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Arnold Farris Lovett and two brothers, T.H. Rankin and Thomas Rankin. Pallbearers will be Jeff Lovett, Jimmy Warf, Randall Chesnut, Farris Lovett, Nathan Lovett, John Lovett and John Bernhart. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of Old Lasea Church of Christ.
