Mr. Alvin Simpson Perry, 92, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Campbellsville Pike, died Monday, November 1, 2004 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Thursday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Williamson and Rev. Jim Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Matthews Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4- 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late John Simpson Perry and Polly Hanna Perry. He served as Trustee on the Board of Directors of Duck River Electric for 18 years and was a former lifelong member of Reese's Chapel Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Helen Baker Perry of Columbia; one son, Glenn Perry of Columbia; one niece, Susan Gilbreath Erwin of Columbia; and two nephews, John R. Gilbreath, Jr. and Clinton Gilbreath both of Culleoka. He was preceded in death by one sister, Kate Perry Gilbreath. Pallbearers will be Eddie Hahn, Jeffrey Hahn, David Taylor, Clinton Gilbreath, John M. Abernathy and Dr. Sidney A. Berry, III. Honorary pallbearers will be J. Matthews Abernathy, John Gilbreath, Orvil Musgrave, James Yeager, Thomas Reischman and David Thomason.
