Alvin Renfro Brown

Alvin Renfro Brown, 89, retired Director of Power Distribution for Tennessee Valley Authority, died Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his residence in Sarasota, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born June 17, 1933 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Richard Paul Brown and the late Elois Renfro Brown. On July 29, 1955, he married Barbara Pugh Brown who preceded him in death February 23, 2021. He was a graduate of Haylong High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business from University of Tennessee. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Alaska Radar Site. Mr. Brown was a member of The American Legion Post 5 in Nashville, Sons of the American Revolution, Scottish Rite Masons, Society of the Descendants of Washington Army at Valley Forge, Society of the War of 1812, First Families of Tennessee, First Families of Maury County, Tennessee, Pioneer Families of Williamson County, Tennessee, and Sons of Confederate Veterans. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, and genealogy. Survivors include his daughter, Delaine Brennan of New Hampshire; son, Al (Trish) Brown of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren, Alex (Nancy) Brown, Austin (Stephanie) Brown, William John “Trey” (Isabel) Brennan, III, Millicent Brennan, Molly Brennan, Amelia Brennan, Maya Brennan, Tucker Brennan; and great grandchildren, Liam Brennan, Scotland Brennan, McKenna Brennan, and Alex Brown, II. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard E. Brown, Sr. Active pallbearers will be Alex Reed Brown, Austin Duke Brown, Tucker Brennan, Steve Graham, Joe Whitehead, Jeff Pair, and Jimmy Hannon.
