View Video Tribute View Funeral WebcastAlvin Windell Westmoreland, 79, resident of Culleoka, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Centennial Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Rush and Sheriff Bucky Rowland officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Mooresville Baptist Church or Mooresville Baptist Church Building Fund, 1030 Bryant Cemetery Road, Lewisburg, TN 37091. Born November 7, 1938 in the Yell Community of Marshall County, he was the son of the late Cliff Westmoreland and the late Nellie Pilkinton Westmoreland. He attended Culleoka High School. Mr. Westmoreland retired from the Maury County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator. After retirement, he enjoyed life on a bulldozer and working for Contracting Services. He enjoyed gospel music, woodworking, and riding his trike with his wife and friends. Mr. Westmoreland was a member of Mooresville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, and had a big heart for helping others locally and overseas on various mission trips. Survivors include his wife, whom he married February 10, 2007, Lona Rochester Beard Westmoreland of Culleoka; children, Windie (J.J.) Hawkins; Darla Allred; Karen (Wayne) Haynes all of Culleoka; grandchildren, Tabitha Aulidge; Dane Allred; Samantha (Allen) Clark; Cliff (Karie) Hawkins all of Culleoka; Chasity (Paul) Blalock; and Caleb (Emily) Haynes both of Nashville; great grandchildren, Sydney; Austin; Julie: Suzie; Justice; Daisy; Katie; Raleigh; Story; and Daily; brother, Jack (Mona) Westmoreland of Culleoka; sisters-in-law, Virginia Westmoreland of Columbia; Judy Westmoreland of Culleoka; special friends, Shirley Green; and Kelly Wilkins; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Harroun Westmoreland; daughter, Susan Westmoreland; brothers, Ray "Sarge" Westmoreland; and Paul Westmoreland. Active pallbearers will be Deacons of Mooresville Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers include Mooresville Baptist Church Family and past and present employees of Maury County Highway Department.
