MR. AMOS DAMPIER, JR. Mr. Amos Mercer Dampier, Jr., 91, retired engineer with Bovay Engineering, died Friday, November 22, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ray Newell officiating. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. The Clarksville native was the son of the late Amos M. Dampier, Sr. and Minnie Lacefield Dampier. He received his engineering degree from Vanderbilt University. He served in the United States Army Reserves during World War II and was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. Survivors include one son, James Amos Dampier of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Burrow Dampier and one daughter, Nancy Mercer Dampier.
