View Funeral Webcast Anise Jackson Brown McGowan, 93, died Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Brian Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 P.M. -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born February 28, 1927 in Lebanon, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Jackson and the late Harriet Farley Jackson. She was a graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Andrew Jackson Business College in Nashville. Mrs. McGowan worked in Nashville for 12 years before coming to Maury County. For 23 years, she worked as a secretary and office manager for Tennessee Knitting Mills, when they closed, she worked 6 years for Weather Tamer. Mrs. McGowan was a member of Santa Fe Baptist Church, Water Valley FCE Club, Water Valley Community Club, and Young at Heart at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and traveling. Mrs. McGowan has traveled to Mexico, Canada, and 22 states. Survivors include her son, Daryl (Cheryl) Brown; and two grandchildren, Mitch Brown and Sammie Jo Brown. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Clyde Brown in 1986 and Douglas McGowan in 1995. Active pallbearers will be Tim Scott, Emerson Potts, David Alderson, Elton Sisk, Winfred Baker, Sherriff Bucky Rowland, and Joey Potts. Honorary pallbearers include Frank Dodson, Reid Smith, Keith Miller, and member of Santa Fe Baptist Church.
