Ann F. Chaney-Barefoot, died Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 2, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Ann was born in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma in September 1930. She married James Robert “Bob” Chaney, Sr. in June 1949, by Brother Howard Parker minister for Highland Avenue Church of Christ.
Ann lost Bob in 2006, her only daughter, Patricia Ann Chaney Cothran in 2010, her only son-in-law, K.B. Cothran in 2009, her only brother, Charlie in 2016, her only sister, Sara of in 2017. Their good Christian mother, Hattie Mae Dale raised them. She died at the age of 93 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Bob Chaney built the churches first Library and a play house for children’s playground. Ann was church Secretary one summer at Graymere. Ann and Frankie Fuson had a Ladies personal workers class for a period of time.
In June 2013, she married H. Carlyle Barefoot. He became a member of Graymere Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Jim Chaney; grandchildren, Nicole Palame, Erica Howard, Ann Marie Schulz, Benson Cothran, and Anastasia Chaney; great grandchildren, Kaylee Cothran, Mason Cothran; and several nieces and nephews.
This family thanks Dr. Darell Rhinehart for four decades of care. He saw Ann’s mother, her only son-in-law, her daughter, and her husband, Carlyle Barefoot.
Members of the Rowland family will serve as pallbearers.
