Ann Carolyn Delk Hayes, 87, retired employee of Bell South and resident of Sunset Avenue, died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 1:30 - 3:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 22, 1930 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Dan McLean Delk and the late Eunice Lee Church Delk. She was married to William G. Hayes who preceded her in death January 13, 1996. Wholeheartedly compassionate and thoughtful, Carolyn's warm spirit, good will, sense of humor and smile touched everyone around her. Carolyn carried out life to the fullest and all those who experienced her loving spirit will forever miss her bright presence and strength. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Micki Poling (Rob Wright) of Columbia; son, Greg (Dawn) Hayes of Culleoka; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Hayes of Columbia; grandchildren, Reed (Kelly) Poling, Logan (John) Peregoy, Kate (Tyler) Pickering, Lacey Hayes; great grandchildren, Cash Poling and Clover Poling; and special niece, Kathryn Morrow. She was preceded in death by a son, Chris Hayes. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
