Mrs. Kenneth O. Knox, Sr. Mrs. Ann Rucker Knox, 79, retired second grade teacher at Baker Elementary School and resident of the Williamsport Pike, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Jim Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the West End Baptist Church, 900 West Seventh Street, Columbia or the Alzheimer's Association, c/o Margaret Prince, 115 Skyview Drive, Columbia. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Roane County, she was the daughter of the late Harlie A. Rucker, Sr. and Ethel Holloway Rucker. She received her early education in Roane County and was a graduate of Tennessee Technilogical University. Mrs. Knox was a charter member of West End Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for a number of years. Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Kenneth O. Knox, Sr. of Columbia; a daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Daniel Mochamps of White Stone, Virginia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth O. and Marcia Knox, Jr. of Nashville and Gary D. and Melissa Knox of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Heather Knox of Huntsville, Laura Knox and Alan Knox of Hillsboro and Bradley Knox of Nashville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harlie A. and Inez Rucker, Jr. of Toledo, Ohio and William "Bill" and Barbara Rucker of Rockwood; several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are H. P. Woody, George Knox, Leon Dixon, Ron Daugherty, Gerald Ruth, Edward Potts and Steve Cain. Honorary pallbearers include active and inactive Deacons and men of West End Baptist Church, Berea Sunday School Class and Ladies of Joy Sunday School Class.
