MRS. ANNIE COLE Mrs. Annie Shelton Cole, 86, resident of Parkway Avenue in Columbia, died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center in Shelbyville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Adair officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Bedford County native was the daughter of the late D.F. Shelton and Rebecca Harrison Shelton. She was married to James Arthur Cole who preceded her in death in 1965. She was a retired employee of Publix Shirt Factory. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Shelia (Randy) West of Shelbyville; a step-daughter, Polly Burgess of Savannah; two grandchildren, David West of Tampa, Florida and Nicole (Craig) Jones of Smyrna. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Bishop, Louise Huckaby, Lucy Locke and two brothers, T.S. Shelton and Harry Shelton. Pallbearers will be David West, Earl Thomas Gilliam, Bill Shelton, Dean Shelton, David Burgess, Dennis Burgess and Danny Cole.
