Mrs. Annie Mae Quirk Kincaid, 96, long-time owner-operator of Kincaid's Grocery and former resident of the Kedron Community, passed away Friday, May 9, 2008 at her residence on Creek Trail. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Gary Wedgewood officiating. Burial will be in Neapolis Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 12:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Neapolis Cemetery Association, c/o Mildred F. Born in the Neapolis Community of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late James Francis Quirk and Laura Alice Roddy Quirk. She was married December 24, 1933 to Jim Buford Kincaid. She and Mr. Kincaid ran a grocery store in the Kedron Community for more than 40 years, and after his death, September 12, 1976, she continued operating the store for 2 more years. After retiring, she moved to Columbia. Mrs. Kincaid was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Love Boat. She loved her church, yard work, raising flowers, and collecting roosters. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Freeda and Marshall T. Potts of Columbia; son, Donald B. Kincaid of Columbia; grandchildren, Jeff and Shelly Potts of Tullahoma and Kenneth and Donna Potts of Madisonville, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Cassie Potts, Aaron Potts of Chattanooga, Benton Potts of Columbia, Rebecca Potts and Allie Potts of Madisonville, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; long-time special friend and caretaker, Lottie Green, who was recently assisted by loving caretakers, Laverne Alexander, Mary Simmons, and Janet Estes. She was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Quirk, Clair Neal, and Mattie Bell Petty; brothers, Andrew Quirk, Luther Quirk, and Jesse Lee Quirk. Active Pallbearers are Aaron Potts, Benton Potts, Edward Harmon, Glenn Petty, Mickey Petty, Bobby Hemphill, Charlie Ray Lunn, and Larry Derryberry. Honorary pallbearers include Edward Neal, Bill Kincaid, Ronnie Kincaid, James Cammuse, Donnie McNeely, Freddie Murphy, Kedron Friends, Fellowship Sunday School Class and Love Boat at Riverside United Methodist Church.
