Annie Ruth Fitzgerald Williams, 84, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at her residence on Burkett Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Young officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Born September 21, 1933 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Fitzgerald and the late Martha Wise Fitzgerald Jones. On December 30, 1948, she married Howard Thomas “Tooter” Williams who preceded her in death May 20, 2014. Said to have a “green thumb”, Mrs. Williams enjoyed gardening and was well known for her beautiful flowers. She was a homemaker, and also a farmer who loved her goats and milking the cows. She was a member of Cornerstone Cowboy Church. Survivors include her son, Eddie (Elva) Williams of Columbia; grandchildren, Sherman “Scooter” (Kim) Williams, Cheryl Tate, Steve Williams; sister, Marie Potts, aunt, Louise Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Howard Wayne Williams.
