Archie Manson "Buddy" Morrow II

A. Manson "Buddy" Morrow, II, 70, lifelong resident of Williamsport, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Thomas, Allen Foster, and Ethan Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Morrow Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born and reared in Maury County, he was the son of the late Manson Morrow and the late Edith Walls Morrow. As a child he attended Woodrow and McDowell Elementary Schools. He was a 1965 graduate of Columbia Military Academy and a 1969 graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. While attending UTM he was a proud member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Buddy loved his fraternity brothers and built a lifetime of friendships. He served as Secretary and Alumni Secretary of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter. Buddy was a life long beef cattle farmer. His love for agriculture and the land started as a child being raised on the family farm where he continued his career and raised his family. He took pride in his cattle, crops, and the land. Over the years he earned several awards and honors for his faithfulness to the farm. In 1976 he was outstanding Young Farmer of the Year, 1988 he was Category I Conservation Farmer of the Year, and in 2015 Kiwanis Club of Columbia recognized him for his Lifetime of Dedication to Agriculture.Buddy also gave back to his community by serving as a board member of the Maury Farmers Co-op, First Farmers Advisory Board, Maury County Cattleman's Association and most recently he served several years on the Maury County Soil Conservation District Board. Buddy was a man of few words but his sense of humor could light up a room. He was honest and dedicated to everything in life. He loved so much his wife, children, and his dog, Mike but his real pride and joy was his only grandson Banks Voss. Buddy is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carla Pinkston Morrow of Williamsport; children, Archie Manson Morrow, III; and Amanda (Roscoe) Voss both of Williamsport; grandson, Banks Colton Voss of Williamsport; sisters, Marna Morrow McAdams of Columbia; Myra Morrow (Jim) Thomas of Columbia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Terri Pinkston of Columbia; nieces, Edie Schoeberal; Amy (Shane) Wilson; Julie McAdams; Erin McAdams; nephews, Richard (Katie) McAdams, Jr.; Patrick (Selena) McAdams; David (Jan) Thomas; James (Jennifer) Thomas; John (Natalie) Thomas; and several great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl W. Pinkston and Alma C. Pinkston; nephews, Daniel Thomas; and Jerry Schoeberl. Active pallbearers will be James Fitzgerald, Jim Bratton, Johnny Bratton, Jeff Bowie, Jimmy Mash, Tim Fitzgerald, Daniel Kelly, J.D. Lineberry, Nathan Harris, David Pinkston, Patrick McAdams, Richard McAdams, Jr., Alvin Morrow, Jr., and Kenny Morrow. Honorary pallbearers include Tony Beyer, Sonny Jones, Robert Dycus, Jason Delk, Allen and Katherine Foster, Beth and Ethan Foster, Buddy Marshall, Ronnie and Becky Harris, Bobby and Connie Harris, Sarah Barry, Rippey Auto Parts, Fleming Sheet Metal, Maury County Soil Conservation Board, Maury Farmers Co-op, Tennessee Livestock Producers, Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Upsilon Chapter, Dr. Minerva Covarrubias, Dr. Houston Jameson, Dr. Joel Kochanski, Dr. Michael Sattasiri, all the nurses and staff at the Maury Regional Medical Center Cancer Center, Dr. Andrew Sisk, Dr. Amit Choksi, Dr. Thomas Dake, Dr. Ben Gardner, Dr. Bob Meyers, all the nurses and doctors and staff of the Maury Regional Medical ICU Stepdown Unit, and all the children influenced by Buddy and Carla's home childcare.The Morrow family wants everyone to know that Buddy expressed his thankfulness and gratitude for all who prayed on his behalf and supported his family during his illness.
