Arlene Gilliam Hubbell, 76, retired banker, died Sunday, December 24, 2017, at her residence in the Stiversville Community. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Larry Benderman officiating. Burial will follow in McCains Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church.Memorials may be made to Highland Church of Christ Youth Group, 497 East James Campbell Blvd, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born March 30, 1941 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Arvis W. Gilliam and the late Carrie Adkisson Gilliam. On June 12, 1959, she married William Thomas "Billy" Hubbell, Jr., who preceded her in death February 9, 2002. Following her 1959 graduation from Columbia Central High School, Mrs. Hubbell began her banking career with Commerce Union Bank which later merged with Bank of America. In 1998, she left Bank of America and was employed at Middle Tennessee Bank/AmSouth until her retirement as loan officer in 2000. She was a member of the Golden Girls Club and truly enjoyed their many adventures. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Faye Hubbell of Columbia; and cousins, Alice Adkisson, Steve Adkisson, Phil Adkisson, Sherri Black, and Karen Adkisson. Family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include The Golden Girls: Joan Hight, Martha Lee, Louise Mills, Jan Rooker, Lyn Ellis, and Connie Jett. The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice Compassus and her loving caregivers that made it possible for Arlene to spend her final days in the comfort of her own home.
