Arthur Frank Fite, Jr. 92, retired crane operator for Monsanto Chemical Company and resident of the Sawdust Community, died Wednesday, October 19,2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Chip Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Mt. The Maury County native was the son of the late Arthur Frank Fite, Sr. and Annar Pearl Johnson Fite. He served in the United States Army during World War II. An avid horseman, he was a life-time member of the Maury County Bridle and Saddle Club Mule Day Committee. He served as a Maury County Commissioner. For more than 50 years he called square dancing all over Tennessee and played guitar, sang, and whistled in his own square dance band. Mr. Fite was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church and more recently attended Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Parker Fite of Columbia, whom he married June 1972; daughters, Cheryl Fite, DVM of Washington; Frann (Will) Mabry of Columbia; son, John Arthur Frank (Rachel) Fite, III of Columbia; grandchildren, Briar Fite Mabry, W. Blair Mabry, Lucy Elizabeth Ann Fite, Arthur Frank Fite, IV, Rose Pearl Fite, and Ruby Isabelle Fite all of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Briar Mabry, Blair Mabry, Jim Hannah, Allen Hannah, Will Mabry, Steve Hannah, Patrick Hannah, and Preston Hannah. Honorary pallbearers include retired Monsanto Chemical Company employees, Maury County Bridle and Saddle Club Mule Day Committee members, C.T. Johnson, Frank Fly, Mark Fly, and Joe Fly.
