Ava Huckaby Gilliam

Mrs. Ava Huckaby Gilliam, 86, long-time resident of Rock Springs Road, died Sunday, May 6, 2007 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.at Oakes & Nichols with Jack White officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Billy Huckaby and Lula Derryberry Huckaby. She was a member of New Lasea Church of Christ and retired from Publix Manufacturing Company. Her husband, Earl Thomas Gilliam, died May 6, 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia "Pat" (Allen) Wauford of Columbia; a sister, Carrie "Pud" Holton of Columbia; three grandchildren, Janice (Kerry) Pruitt of Culleoka, Dale Wauford of Columbia, and Jerry Wayne (Lynn) Gilliam of Columbia; two great-grandchildren, Joshua (Bridgett) Pruitt of Columbia and Katie Pruitt of Culleoka; a great-great-grandchild, Elliot Pruitt of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Thomas "Bill" Gilliam and Jimmy Franklin Gilliam. Active pallbearers are Dennis Evans, Billy Ray Huckaby, Ricky Huckaby, Dale Wauford, Joshua Pruitt, Kerry Pruitt, and Jerry Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers include friends at New Lasea Church of Christ.
