Ava Kathleen Shrader Wilson

Mrs. Ava Kathleen Shrader Wilson, retired supervisor from Publix Shirt Factory and resident of Hilltop Drive, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Vann and Rev. David Brantley officiating. Burial will be in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, 907 Hatcher Lane, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Burl M. Shrader and Clemma Tomlinson Shrader. She was valedictorian of her Giles County High School graduating class and played on the All State basketball team. On May 5, 1943 she married David Clark Wilson who preceded her in death February 4, 1989. Following her retirement from the garment industry she worked as a crossing guard at Whitthorne Junior High School. She was a member of Craft Memorial United Methodist Church for 55 years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Sandra (Jerry) Thurman of Columbia, Mrs. Diane (Jackie) Smith of Pulaski; two grandchildren, Shelley (Dustin) Seratt of Dyersburg, Justin Wilson (RaDonna) Thurman of Rainbow City, Alabama; one great-granddaughter, Ava Lauren Seratt; one great-grandson, Atticus Wilson Ridner-Thurman; one sister, Burlie Bonds of Lynnville; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Butch Shrader, Jim Shrader, Malcomb Bonds, Wade Bonds, David Harmon, Danny Trimble, Justin Thurman, Dustin Seratt, and Jim Owens. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Curry, Pete Ridley, Shell Scarrett, and members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Craft Memorial United Methodist Church.
