Barbara Jane Poplin McAdams, 82, passed away February 12, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Roberts and Eddie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends 1p.m. – 3p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was born February 20, 1937 in Lewisburg, Tennessee to Alden Lee (Jack) Poplin and Mary Ruth Kerr Poplin. She grew up in Lewisburg, Tennessee and graduated from Marshall County High School. She attended the University of Tennessee and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. Barbara worked for First Farmers & Merchants National Bank for 25 years and was a volunteer at Maury Regional Medical Center since 1992. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1988. Her hobbies included collecting teapots and needle art. She is survived by her husband Robert Wayne McAdams, whom she married on August 23, 1957; daughter-in-law Beth Dennis McAdams and a precious granddaughter, Holly Kerr McAdams. She was preceded in death by her son, John David McAdams; her parents; her maternal grandparents, Grady Brown Kerr and Faye Holt Kerr; paternal grandparents, WM. Edwin Poplin and Mable Morton Poplin. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given to the Columbia State Community College Scholarship Foundation and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 19 Veterans Scholarship, 1665 Hampshire Pike, Tennessee 38401. Active pallbearers will include Clark Lasater, David Dillehay, Jerry Dillehay, AL Thomas, Randy Thomas, George Jones, and Donny Walters. Honorary pallbearers will include, Charlie and Judy Morton, Kitty and Tommy Littleton, The Ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 19, Barbara’s Childhood Friends (the Zig Zaggers); Jane Talley, Ann Anderson, Annese Thomas, Margaret Weber, Gayle Hardison, Hal Holcomb, Eddie Ables, Gene McShane, and Wilma Ervin.
