Mrs. Barbara Ann Christian Sproul, 71, resident of Foster Chapel Road in Williamsport, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Hughes and Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating. A private family entombment will be conducted at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. She graduated from Columbia Central High School Class of 1954. She had been employed in Dr. Andrew Sisk's office and was a member of the James K. Polk Memorial Association and the Red Hats Society. Mrs. Sproul was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Bruce Strother Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband, James D. Sproul of Williamsport; one son, Franklin Michael (Stephanie) Clark of Costa Mesa, CA; two daughters, Elizabeth Clark (Paul) Brunette of Nashville, Amy Christian Clark (Scott) Nichols of Whittier, CA; one stepdaughter, Beth Sproul (Lynn) Parker of Columbia; two stepsons, Jon (Kim) Sproul of Columbia, David Sproul of Williamsport; and fourteen grandchildren, Megan, Nathan, Billy, Rebecca, Lauren, Lane, Elizabeth, Dakota, Jake, Rachel, Madison, April, Julia and Sydney. She was preceded in death by one stepson, Jimmy Sproul. Pallbearers will be Howard Locke, David Brown, Preston Blackmon, William Walter, Doug Williamson, Richard Brown and Dale Spackey. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bruce Strother Sunday School Class.
