Barry Brown, 48, retired employee of Columbia State Community College and longtime resident of the Knob Creek Community, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Harvel Stockard, Rev. Ezell Rose, and Andrew Brown officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Noteof sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Shelby County native was the son of Louise Parsons Beason of New Orleans, Louisiana and the late Marion Ralph "Sonk" Brown. He had lived most of his life in Maury County, where he retired from CSCC as mail courier and was actively involved in the Athletic Department driving the athletic bus. He was a member of Knob Creek Baptist Church and was an Eagle Scout. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Sandra Bradley Brown, employee of Core Physicians and former employee of General Electric. Other survivors include one sister, Peggy Ann (Raymond) Sheehan of New Orleans, Louisiana; four brothers, Charles William Brown of New Orleans, Louisiana; Bernard Brown, Richard Allen Brown, and Troy Brown, all of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews that were a special part of his life. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Margie Brown, and one brother, Paul Marion Brown. Pallbearers will be Dave Hall, Jerry White, Eddie Campbell, Ralph Smith, Doug Skinner, Dr. B. I. Naddy, Joe Hendley, Larry Brewer, Louis Conner, Pat Hickman, Robert Sullivan, and Martin Jobe. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Scott, Michael Beard, Jimmy Humphrey, Dr. Shawn Reed, Dr. John Worthman, Dr. Steven Woodley, Dr. C. Wright Pinson, Dr. Ravis Chari, Core Physicians Doctors and Staff, Outpatient I.V. Therapy at Maury Regional Hospital, and deacons and members of Knob Creek Baptist Church.
