Sgt. 1st Class Barry Lee Brown, 53, mechanic specialist with the Combined Support Maintenance Shop of the Tennessee National Guard and resident of Tom Osborne Road, died Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Joe D. Brooks and Rev. Kenny Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard. The family wlll visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was a 1971 graduate of Columbia Central High School and was a member of Lasea Missionary Baptist Church. He served a 15 month tour of duty in Kuwait during Iraqi Freedom I and II. He earned a Global Award on Terroism Medal and Army Commendation Medal in support of Iraqi Freedom. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Gray Brown of Columbia; his parents, Howard and Carlene Stills Brown of Columbia; two brothers, James O. (Debbie) Brown and Don E. (Tricia) Brown of Columbia; father-in-law, James O. Gray of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law, Laurie (Terry) Roberts of Mt. Pleasant and Bonnie (Eddie) McFadden of Trenton; nieces and nephews, Erica Brown, Hayley Brown, Brittany Brown, Erika Brown, Jessica Brymer, Stephanie Smith, Christy King, Jennifer Tipton, Jonathan Brown, Brandon Brown and Michael Brown; great-nieces and great-nephews, Breanna Brown, Cameron Smith, Trevor Tipton and Carson King. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Bonnie R. James Gray. Active pallbearers are Tim Adams, Sam Shelby, Chad Busby, Rodney Hunt, Todd Marshall and Charles Hudgins. Honorary pallbearers are member of the Tennessee National Guard and Combined Support Maintenance Shop.
