Mrs. Bernice Marie Neeley Proffitt, 76, widow of Walter Joseph Proffitt, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at her residence on Hilltop Dr. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wayne Hardison officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery in Lewis County. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Hickman County native was the daughter of the late Henry Stanley Neeley and Claudia Duncan Neeley. She was a graduate of Hickman County High School and a member of Northview Church of Christ. Survivors include her sister, Katherine Neeley of Centerville; brother, D.C.Neeley of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Wendell Jump, Jonathan Steel, Ricky Neeley, Kelly Tenpenny, Billy Tarkington, Neil Gilbert, Tim Beaver and Frank Proffitt.
