Bernice Matthews Warren

Mrs. Bernice "Doodle" Matthews Warren, 69, well-known retired private sitter and resident of 6th Avenue, died Monday, February 6, 2006 at Maury Regional Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4 - 8p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1212, Columbia, TN 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Alice Chapman Hunt. On October 10, 1953 she married Leroy "Trusty" Warren who preceded her in death October 13, 1980. Mrs. Warren was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant. Survivors include a daughter, Connie Ann (Billy) Seagraves of Columbia; two sons, Danny Lee "Tank" (Tish) Warren of Columbia, David Dewayne (Ann) Warren of Summertown; four sisters, L.W. "Billie" Ridley, Jewell McCandless, Ruby Matthews all of Columbia and Jo Ann Matthews of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; two granddaughters, Emily Warren of Columbia, Leigh Ann Warren of Summertown; one grandson, Tim Warren of Columbia; and two great-grandchildren, Titania Star Warren of Columbia and Ian Draco Warren of Summertown. She was preceded in death by a son, William Ricky Warren, a sister, Mary Arbuckle and a brother, Harry Uselton. Pallbearers will be Petey Ridley, C.J. Brown, Dale Brown, Thomas "Tab" Blackburn, Ray O'Neal, Billy O'Neal, Nathan Luttrell, Ricky Collins, David Fitzgerald, Ray Tinsley and Micky Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be private sitters.
