Bertha Mae Brewer McGaw

Mrs. Bertha Mae Brewer McGaw, 81, left with the angels Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at her residence on Joe Peay Road. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Walker officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Highland Rim, 1412 Trotwood Ave., Suite 5, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Franklin County, Alabama native was the daughter of the late Isom Brewer and Mamie Lou Rainey Brewer. As a young woman she was employed at Dixie Manufacturing. She was married to Norman Dozia McGaw who preceded her in death May 25, 1987. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Vicky D. Fry of Spring Hill; three sons, Wayne (Honor Ann) McGaw of Clarksville, Tony Lee (Katherine) McGaw of Spring Hill, Kenneth McGaw of Columbia; one sister, Mary Ellen Cellan of Columbia, one brother, Franklin Roosevelt Brewer of Columbia; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Thomas McGaw, a grandson, Tony Lee McGaw, Jr. and three brothers, Tom Brewer, Roscoe Brewer and Curtis Brewer. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
