MRS. GORDON HICKMAN Mrs. Bertie Mae Weatherford Hickman, 88, former long-time resident of the Culleoka Community, died Saturday, August 2, 2003 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Bobby Sands and Tim McHenry officiating. Burial will be in the Glennwood Cemetery at Southport. The family will visit with friends after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Sam Weatherford and Ruby Williamson Weatherford and a graduate of Jones High School in Lynnville. Mrs. Hickman worked as a seamstress at Dixie Manufacturing Company and Maury Manufacturing Company for a number of years; for 27 years was a dealer with Stanley Home Products and retired in 1990 at the age of 75 from Hospital Hospitality House in Nashville. She was a member of the Westvue Church of Christ in Lewisburg amd a former member of the Stiversville Home Demonstration Club.Her husband of 51 years. William Gordon Hickman, died January 19, 1986.Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Maude Hickman of White Lake, Michigan, Billy and Carolyn Hickman and Mike and Judy Hickman of Culleoka, Doug and Bonnie Hickman of Columbia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Bob Dugger of Spring Hill and Linda and Wayne Tomlin of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Clyde Weatherford of Maryland; three sisters, Ruth Wells of Michigan, Geri Horsley of Murfreesboro; Brownie Templeton of Hendersonville; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Peggy Hickman, three grandchildren, James Hickman, Jr., Jennifer Dee Dugger, Joyce Marie Hickman and two brothers, Gerald Weatherford and Joe Weatherford.Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
