The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Dixie Turpin Cothron and the late L.H. “Daddy” Cothron. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School class of 1956. She began working at the Tennessee Farm Bureau following graduation. She later worked with Holland Furnace Company, and was re-located to Staunton, Virginia and was named employee of the year in Holland, Michigan. After returning to Columbia, she was a secretary for Judge Jimmy Matthews for some odd thirty years, where she worked alongside him in the Democratic Party. Afterwards, she was employed in South Central Human Resources Probation in Maury County for several years. She remained a friend to all who knew her, a loving mother and grandmother who reached out to teach and uplift anyone who came her way. She loved to talk to anyone about the Bible, and if asked a question, it would be answered or if she was in doubt she would find the answer. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She is survived by her grandson, Phillip Mychael Laine (Jazmine) Chunn stationed in Germany; son, Barry Jones of Murfreesboro; daughter in law, Susan Eastep Chunn (Kirk) Marks of Columbia; two great grandchildren, Sophia Cabriel Chunn of Athens, TN and Ellianna Rhea Chunn of Germany; and stepson, Danny Chunn of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rucker Hillman Chunn, whom she married in 1964, till his death in 1976 and Malcolm P. Hood whom she married in 1997 till his death in 2007; her son, Phillip H. Chunn who lost his life in an automobile accident in 1994; son, Joe Lee Chunn; daughter, Kathey Chunn Spencer; sisters, Evelyn Cothron Hickman and Christine Cothron Lovett; brother, Fulton Cothron. Active pallbearers will include Tyler Duke, Chris Rosebrock, Justin Spann, Raymond Chunn, Barry Jones, and Kirk Marks. Honorary pallbearers will include Judge Bobby Sands, Jim Matthews, Richard Matthews, John Church, David Ring, Allen Ring, and the elders and deacons of Highland Church of Christ. The family would like to express a special thanks to her niece, Cathey Anderson and friend, Barbara Westmoreland.
