Mrs. Bessie Neal Murphy, 94, former resident of the Mooresville Pike, died Saturday, November 6, 2004 at NHC of Pulaski. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Burton Daimwood officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late William Edward Neal and Minnie McClain Neal. Her first husband, Simpson Mayfield, died March 21, 1979. She was also the widow of Edward C. Murphy, who died August 20, 2001. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Ephesus Church of Christ. Survivors include a sister, Willie Mae Reed of Pulaski; two nephews, William E. (Sandra) Reed of Pulaski and Robert N. (Annie Ruth) Reed of Springfield; a geat-niece, Vangie (JoJo) Gieske of Lawrenceburg; a great-nephew, Rodney (Tracie) Reed of Lawrenceburg; four great-great-nieces and nephews; a step-son, Edward Clayton (Judy) Murphy of Columbia; six step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Mary Ruth Harris. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
