Betsy Brown Glazier

Betsy Morgan Brown Glazier, 89, resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 surrounded by her family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Eddie Miller and Russ Adcox officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society, P. O. Born October 3, 1925 in the Hampshire Community of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Dan Hughes Brown and Amanda Shannon Brown. On July 31, 1959 she married Russell Glazier who preceded her in death on November 18, 1980. She was a 1943 graduate of Hampshire High School and graduated from Columbia Business College in 1944. Mrs. Glazier was employed at Middle Tennessee Bank, Middle Tennessee Underwriters, Goodman Budget Service, and Columbia Rock Products. After her retirement she owned and operated a catering business, "BeeGee's Party House". She had a love for music and enjoyed playing the organ. An avid card player, Betsy was a member of Muletown Rookies. She logged numerous hours volunteering at the Maury County Archives abstracting deeds from the 1800's. She was a member of Maury Hills Church. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Anne Brown; niece, Sandra (Larry) Church; nephew-in-law, Weldon (Sheila) Wheat; great nieces, Gina (Matthew) Cochran, April (Scott) Davis, Bonnie (Tony) Roder; great nephew, Russell (Denise) Wheat; great great nephews, Cole Davis, Sam Cochran, Alex Cochran; and great great nieces, Abby Davis, Anna-Kate Davis, Lizzie Cochran, Gracen Wheat, Hannah-Jane Davis, Sadie Roder. Extended family includes Tommy & Carolyn Duncan; special cousins, William Edward "Sonny" (Becky) Clymore and family; Mary Cothran Duncan; and special friends, Dr. William Haywood and Sue & Eddie Miller. She was preceded in death by her brother, Sam Shannon Brown and niece Janice Brown Wheat. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Cochran, Scott Davis, Tony Roder, Russell Wheat, Danny Clymore, David Clymore, Dusty Clymore, Frank Varnado, Tommy Duncan, Cole Davis, and Sam Cochran.
