Betty Davis Tisher, 89, resident of Columbia, died Tuesday January 14, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Jody Gamble and Brother Bob Vasser officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born November 23, 1930 in Union City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert A. Davis and the late Nellie Cochran Davis. She was a graduate of Rives High School class of 1949. She was a charter member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church, where she was instrumental in starting the preschool program, and was the first president of the Women’s Missionary Union. Mrs. Tisher was also a member of the Maury Regional Auxiliary and the Mule Town Rookies. She is survived by her husband of 67 years whom she married on August 16, 1952, Charles W. “Shewey” Tisher of Columbia; son, C. Tim (Tammy Jones) Tisher of Columbia, Tennessee; grandson, Destin T. Tisher of Nashville, TN ; granddaughter, Daylen C. Tisher of Jacksonville, FL; niece, Betty Jaelynn Walker; and nephew, Dennis Allen Payne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Edna M. Payne. Pallbearers will include Robert Belew, Danny “Wilbur” Davis, Tom Stegall, Mike Ford, Gary Ledbetter, Tony Sowell, Wayne Bone, and Mike Floyd. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Grace Sunday School Class, Gary Farmer, Trula Farmer Surles, Jo Hudson, Cecil & Letha Lou Whiteside, Dr. Robert C.
