Betty June Denton

Mrs. Betty June Andrews Denton, 82, died Monday, December 18, 2006, at her home. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Hughes, Rev. Emily Barker, and Rev. Lyle Holland officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 -8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The People's Table, c/o First United Methodist Church, 222 West Seventh Street, Columbia, TN 38401 or the American Heart Association, 1818 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Dimple Bigham Andrews and John Samuel Andrews. She was married to Edward Merrill "Ned" Denton who preceded her in death on November 24, 2006. She was a 1942 graduate of Culleoka High School and received an Associates Degree in Business from Martin College. She was former organist and an elder at Central Presbyterian Church, and in recent years was a member of First United Methodist Church in Columbia. Mrs. Denton was a homemaker and taught piano in Culleoka. Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Lyle) Holland of Helena, Alabama; Betty M. Webb of Columbia; one son, Hal (Janet) Denton of Dallas, Texas; one brother, John Knox (Sammie) Andrews of Columbia; sister-in-law, Frances Denton Bowman of Columbia; four grandsons; and two granddaughters. Pallbearers will be Keith Denton, Blake Denton, Sam Webb, Lyle Holland, Jimmy Andrews, Johnny Andrews, and Jimmy Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be men of Central Presbyterian Church, Charles Bills, Everette Renfro, and Bryan Caulkins. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Simmons for his compassionate care of Mrs. Denton.
