Betty Cothran Dyer

Betty Joan Cothran Dyer, 84, retired store manager for McDonald’s and resident of Columbia, died Friday, June 7, 2024 at her residence.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born in Hampshire, TN on April 12, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Willie Newton Cothran Sr. and the late Glady Pearl Roberts Cothran. In August of 1964 she married David Allen Dyer who preceded her in death on December 10, 2023. Mrs. Dyer was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her sons, Garry Lewis (Christy) Dyer and Gregory Allen (Joy) Dyer; daughters, Alesia Dyer (Kenny) Beshears and Michelle Dyer Hood; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; siblings, Martha Sharp, Linda Rhodes, Helen Bell, Velda Filson, Jeffery Cothran; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
