View Funeral WebcastBetty Jean Weatherford Hubbell, 72, resident of Digg Court in Columbia and former long-time resident of the Culleoka Community, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Cory Bell and Jeremy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Culleoka Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late John Lee Weatherford, Sr. and Bessie Mae Callahan Weatherford. She was married January 1, 1953 to Samuel Smith "Sam" Hubbell, Jr. She and Mr. Hubbell owned and operated Hubbell's Market for 23 years in the Culleoka Community and for 4 years operated a store in the Waco Community. Mr. Hubbell died May 6, 1999. She was a long-time member of Culleoka Church of Christ and former volunteer at Maury Regional Medical Center. Survivors include daughters, Pam Smith of Kingston Springs and Lisa (Ed) Sumosky of Glendale; sons, Michael "Mike" (Donna) Hubbell of Culleoka and Randy (Mallory) Hubbell of Glendale; sister, Linda Weatherford of Nashville; grandsons, Jeremy (Rebecca) Smith, Jared Smith, Sam Hubbell, Ben Hubbell, and Dylan Hubbell; step-grandchildren, Zachary Willis and Taylor Willis; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Mobley, Serenity Smith, and Logan Smith; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Weatherford Rich, Oakie Weatherford Mayo and Hazel Weatherford Roland and brothers, John L. Weatherford, Jr., Ray Weatherford, and Don Weatherford. Active pallbearers are Sam Hubbell, Ben Hubbell, Dylan Hubbell, Jared Smith, Darrell Hubbell, Jake Hubbell, Tommy Mayo, and Richard Callahan. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Stephen Simmons and Staff, Sunday Lunch friends, Mary Alice and Raymond Hickman.
