View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Betty Jean Watson Cox, 77, homemaker and resident of Mt. Pleasant, died Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Mt. Pleasant Health & Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born September 3, 1943 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Malcom Russell Watson and the late Naomi Whittaker Watson. She married Stanley Cox who preceded her in death April 1, 1999. Mrs. Cox was an excellent cook and caretaker. In the past, she enjoyed fishing, working puzzles, and doing word search puzzles. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Sammy Joe Dillehay of Nunnelly; Susie (Terry) Hanvy of Mt. Pleasant; James E. Dillehay of Tiptonville; brother, Doris (Pauline) Watson of Columbia; grandchildren, Randy Peters, Josh Hanvy, Tiffany Stewart, Travis (Kristen) Hanvy; fifteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her great grandson, Tanner Garrett; sisters, Mildred Miller Owen, Katherine Luttrell; and brothers, Joe Watson, James Watson, Larry Watson, Buddy Watson, and Ernest Watson. Active pallbearers will be Josh Hanvy, Travis Hanvy, Wayne Hanvy, and Eric Hillard.
