Mrs. Betty Scott (Shamblin) McMahon, 63, private sitter and resident of Columbia, died Friday, December 8, 2006 St. Thomas Alive Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Church of the Nazarene in Columbia with Rev. Brian Wesinger and Rev. Brian Loging officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and Monday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Thomas Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville 37203 or Grace Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 2302 Highland Avenue, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of the Santa Fe Community in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Hardin Scott and Willie Mai Byrd Scott. She was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene and former member of the Maury County Bridle and Saddle Club. Mrs. McMahon was a supervisor for Shoney's Inc. for several years and formerly owned and operated a restaurant and jewelry store. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Beth (Rev. Brian) Loging of Hartsville, South Carolina; four sisters, Scottie Walker of Nashville, Georgia (Columbus) Street, Mary Beaty, and Sherron Scott, all of Columbia; a brother, Henry Paul (Sally) Scott of Nashville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-niece. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dot Sbuttoni. Active pallbearers are Diane Seamon, Theodore Walker, Jr., Jack Beaty, Jr., Hank Walker, Terri Deneen, Kathleen Scott, Teresa Ward, and David Seamon. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Clyde Heflin, Dr. Lester Porter, Dr. James Meadows, D. C. Neely, John Robert Skillington, Ed English, Nancy English, John English, Danny Krutcher, nurses and technicians on 7th floor at St. Thomas Hospital and Alive Hospice, the Living Word Sunday School Class at Grace Nazarene Church, Chaplain Gene Lovelace and members of the Maury County Bridle and Saddle Club.
