MRS. JAMES F. NELSON Mrs. Betty Dial Nelson, 66, homemaker and former employee of Dixie Manufacturing Company, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at her residence on Hillview Drive.Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Bob Wells and Rev. Kent Barwick officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Wallace Dial and Gladys Roberts Dial and was a member of the Loyal Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.Survivors include her husband, James Franklin Nelson of Columbia; a daughter, Sandra (Joey) Gibson of Murfreesboro; two sons, Barry Nelson of Columbia and Larry (Pam) Nelson of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Jennifer Nelson, Holly Nelson, Chase Gibson; five sisters, Myra (Rick) Young, Virginia (Jerry) Nichols, Joy (Donald) Wilkins, Katie Dial and Patricia (David) Derryberry, all of Columbia; a brother, William (Ellen) Dial of Columbia. She was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Nichols and a brother, Bobby Dial.Active pallbearers are Rick Young, Jerry Nichols, David Nichols, Terry Dial, Roy Prosser and Donald Wilkins. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Thomas Dake and staff and Columbia Oncology Group.
