Mrs. Betty Hubbell Puckett, 82, former resident of Pickens Lane, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Hubert Cunningham and Pastor Bo Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born September 25, 1934 in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Hubbell and Mary Ellen Hickman Hubbell. On March 9, 1954, she married Leland Ray Puckett and their 56 year marriage ended with his death January 8, 2011. For several years, she was a sales clerk for Woolworth's, Louie's Quick Sack and the Country Boy One Stop. Mrs. Puckett was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Danny (Theresa) Puckett of Lawrenceburg; sisters, Dorothy Hubbell Thurman and Faye Hubbell both of Columbia; sister-in-law, Arlene Hubbell of Stiversville; granddaughter, Heather (Rob) Latimer of Murfreesboro; grandson, Jason Puckett of Columbia; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jake, Whitley; three step-grandchildren; and eleven step-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Rachel Edwards; and brother, William T. "Billy" Hubbell.Active pallbearers will be Jake Latimer, Jason Puckett, Rob Latimer, Don Thurman, Dennis Thurman, Jeffrey Carroll, and Larry Hubbell. Honorary pallbearers include Beverly Petrovich, Darlene Thomason, and Wendy Barnes.
