MR. BILL CALDWELL Mr. William James "Bill" Caldwell, 89, retired employee of Monsanto Chemical Company and resident of Cranford Hollow Road in the Bear Creek Community, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Thursday, at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jack White and Ewing Neelley officiating. Burial will be in Hardison Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday after 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to New Lasea Church of Christ Building Fund. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late James Caldwell and Emma Harris Caldwell. He was married for fifty-six years to Lurlene Brown Caldwell who preceded him in death on October 2, 1992. He was a member of New Lasea Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Janet (Jimmie) Lamar of Columbia; a son, William Howard "Billy" (Anna) Caldwell of Columbia; a brother, John Caldwell of Columbia; two sisters, Pearl Walters of Santa Fe, Esther Mae Harris of Tullahoma; five grandchildren, Karla (Ken) Hardison, Delia Bearden, Paul Lamar, Dale Lamar all of Columbia, Melody (Bob) Lawler of Lavergne; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Caldwell, L.S. "Step" Harris, Leonard Caldwell and two sisters, Rhoda Brady and Ruby Caldwell. Pallbearers will be Paul Lamar, Dale Lamar, Ken Hardison, Allen Brown, Tony Hie and Harold Delk. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of New Lasea Church of Christ and retired employees of Monsanto Chemical Company
