MR. BILL GOLDEN Mr. William Lee "Bill" Golden, 70, retired pharmacist with Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Nashville, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at Centennial Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Kannon officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Leoma, Tennessee native was the son of Virginia Fogg Golden of Columbia and the late Hubert William Golden. On October 2, 1953, he married Shirley McDonald Golden, his wife of nearly fifty years. He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. He was a 1952 graduate of Central High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in 1959 from Middle Tennessee State University. In 1967 he earned a bachelor of science in pharmacy from Samford University in Birmingham and was a member of the Tennessee Pharmaceutical Association. He was a member of Crievewood Methodist Church. Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include a son, Gary Lee (Rita) Golden of Franklin; two grandsons, Matthew Golden and Andrew Golden both of Franklin; sister-in-law, Martha Gilliam of Columbia; brothers-in-law, Tommy McDonald of Dickson and Bobby (Patti) McDonald of Atlanta, Georgia. Pallbearers will be Bill Bass, Archie Hamm, Brent Golden, Wayne Golden, Tommy McDonald and Bobby McDonald. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1212, Columbia, Tennessee 38402.
